The Berkeley Repertory Theater is set to announce Monday that a group of 40 writers, directors and composers will gather there this summer in an effort to develop 13 new projects for the stage. The four-week creative workshop, the Ground Floor, is designed to provide the artists with the space and resources to hone their work. It will include things like "The Food Project," a series of short dining-centric scripts from 20 playwrights including Julia Cho ("The Language Archive"), David Edgar ("Continental Divide") and Amy Freed ("Freedomland"); and plays from Marcus Gardley ("On the Levee") and Dan LeFranc ("Sixty Miles to Silver Lake") commissioned by the theater.
